2) Information Asymmetric Factor, Loan Syndication and Financial Performance of Commercial Banks in Kenya
Author’s Details: Thomas Acholla Ongallo1 Prof. Rachael Gesami2 Dr. Gillian Mwaniki3 1Lecturer, Department of Business Administration, School of Business, Kenya Methodist University, Kenya 2An economist and chair of the Nelson Mandela Centre for African Studies at Jawaharlal Nehru University in New Delhi, India 3Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development, Nairobi, Kenya
Abstract:
Existing literature has demonstrated that loan syndication factors can affect banks performance. Good financial performance rewards the shareholders for their investment efforts and in turn, motivates them for additional investment and enables economic growth. On the other hand, underperformance can lead to banking failure and crisis which have negative repercussions on the economic growth. This study sought to determine the influence of loan syndication factor on the financial performance of commercial banks in Kenya. This study specific objective sought to determine the influence of information asymmetric factor on the financial performance of commercial banks in Kenya To achieve the objective the study used descriptive survey design. A census of all 39 commercial banks that were in operation consistently was the object of the research. In each bank, a self-administered questionnaire was used to collect data from the 78 respondents who composed of credit directors and operation directors. A multiple regression analysis was run so as to determine the influence of loan syndication factors on the financial performance of commercial banks in Kenya. Theories anchoring this study included Modern intermediation theory, Modern portfolio theory, and Loanable fund theory. Data collected was analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. The study established that information asymmetric had a significant statistical positive influence on the financial performance of commercial banks in Kenya. Recommendations included: banks’ management to establish a special unit to take charge of loan portfolio management to deal with credit rationing in the bank. This study contributes to enhancing the existing knowledge gap on loan syndication and financial performance of commercial banks in Kenya.

3) A study on the interactions between the Universe and Earth (Irlapatism-A New Hypothetical Model of Cosmology)
Author Details: Gangadhara Rao Irlapati-H.No.5-30-4/1, Saibabanagar, Jeedimetla, Hyderabad – 500 055, Telangana, India
Abstract:
There is a relation between the gravitational forces and changes in the Earth. Everyone should know about the origin, structure, nature, evolution of the universe and its various properties. Since, all the hazards on the earth directly or indirectly are associated with the gravitational forces of the universe. Further, this in order to be study the hazards, study of the cosmology is needed to know about hazards. There are hazards on the earth, on other planets and there are also happening within atoms. Human beings are on the earth, are on the outside planets of the earth and also on the neutrons in the atoms. Even if the world’s people appreciate or criticize me, it is fact. Hazards caused by asteroids, meteoroids, and comments as they pass near the earth, enter the earth’s atmosphere, and /or strike the earth, and by changes in inter planetary ionosphere, and atmosphere. In the face of extra-terrestrial hazards and events that can lead to disasters, it is important to live in a resilient community because these types of disasters are so unpredictable and depending on the size of meteorite can cause serious damage through the heat emitted during impacts with earth’s surface .In addition , impact can cause earth quakes , Tsunami, wildfires ,acid ,rains from nitrogen oxides, darkness from dust and soot and global warming. It is for this reason that staying aware and prepared at all times is extra important. This is not an implication to live in fear, but a reminder to stay educated about these types of disasters and to have a plan in place as with any other type of disaster. Before an extraterrestrial hazards /events occur, there are some steps that can be taken to mitigate and minimize the impact. I have conducted many studies on the universe and its extra-terrestrial hazards and gravitational forces and its effect on the natural hazards on the earth. A new hypothetical model of cosmology will helpful to study and know the universe, extra-terrestrial hazards and gravitational forces and its effect on the natural hazards on the earth. During the period of 1970-77, many researches and studies have done by me on the origin, nature structure and evolution of the cosmos and its relation between the gravitational forces and changes in the Earth and proposed A New Hypothetical Model of Cosmology with hundreds of basic facts. Some things are yet to be explained.

However, understanding how different CSR initiatives affect customer loyalty is still limited especially in developing countries. The study objective was to determine the effect of discretionary responsibility on customer loyalty. Carroll model and Stakeholder theory were used to explaining the study. The study employed an explanatory research design. The study targeted all customers of telecommunication companies in Uasin Gishu County. Stratified sampling was used to group the population while the systematic sampling technique was used to obtain 400 customers. A structured questionnaire was used for data collection. The reliability of the questionnaire was checked using Cronbach Alpha test. Data was purely quantitative. Data collected were coded and analyzed using both descriptive and inferential statistics. The study found that CSR initiatives positively impact on customer loyalty. The study found that discretionary responsibilities positively affect customer loyalty. It was therefore affirmed that mobile firms providing telecommunication services with a higher level of CSR discretionary responsibilities are likely to enhance customer loyalty towards its products. It’s therefore important for telecommunication firms to donate to charities, to the society, be involved in a project(s) with the local community and return a portion of revenues to the community and firm staff members to be involved in charity volunteer work on behalf of the firm. 8) Extending the Shelf-Life of Processed Cheese Spread Using Propolis Extract
Author Details: Emad A. H. Guirguis-Department of Food Hygiene, National Nutrition Institute, General Organization of Teaching Hospitals and Institutes, Egypt
Abstract:
Propolis considered a natural product with an antimicrobial effect. Treating processed cheese spread with ethanol extract of propolis (EEP) was investigated by storage time. The treated with 200, 400, 600, 800 and 1000 mg of EEP/kg and control (non-treated) samples were stored at 5ºC /days. The quality of samples with respect to microbial, mycotoxin and sensory analysis every 5 days were evaluated. Gradual decrease of total mesophilic aerobic bacterial count, spore-forming bacteria and fungal count of the treated samples [(7.6 ~ 0.7) x 102, (9.8 ~ 1.2) x 101 and (8.0 ~ 1.2) x 101 CFU/g)] showing substandard values throughout the storage time compared with the increasing control values [(7.6 ~ 9.3) x 102, (1.1 ~ 3.0) x 102 and (0.8 ~ 1.3) x 102 CFU/g], respectively. Pathogens (coliform group, Escherichia coli, Bacillus cereus, Staphylococcus aureus, Salmonella sp, Clostridium perfringens, and Listeria monocytoginis) were not detected in any of the samples. Aflatoxin M1 was affected by neither the concentration nor the storage time. Sensory evaluation showed a negative impact regarding propolis effect on color, taste, odor, texture and overall acceptance. EEP is recommended as a natural preservative in processed cheese spread regardless of its sensory effect.
